.ABOUT.

B.I.S. is an indipendent, research media collective that has started its activity at Goldsmiths College, London with a project on the Mediterranean Sea.

B.I.S. has been launched with a series of exhibitions and talks in London, New York City, Melbourne and Venice between summer and autumn 2006.

In 2007 BiS will present a new project - Leaving Room - in Valencia, Venice and London

Daniele Rugo

Daniele Rugo is currently working as Research Assistant for the project Networked Cultures, which investigates the transformative potential of art, architectural and urban practices in Europe, as they team up to challenge traditional models of spatial planning, co-habitation and land use. The project is funded by FP6, Marie Curies Actions Programme.

Daniele Rugo has received his MA Digital Art in London after studies in literature, music and drama in Milan. His last work has been exhibited in Melbourne ('Nude Bodies' - MARS Gallery, August 2006).

He is now engaged as a PhD student at Goldsmiths College - University of London, in a research on the new visual cultures of the body.

Roberto Cavallini

Roberto Cavallini is an independent curator and writer. He received his MA in Contemporary Art Theory from Cà Foscari University of Venice, Italy. He was author and curator of Site^Insight, contemporary art exhibition that took place at the A+A Gallery in Venice in May 2006.

Roberto Cavallini is currently Visiting Tutor and Ph.D. student in the Department of Visual Cultures, Goldsmiths College, University of London. His research project deals with the visual cultures of urban space.

Thaer Zuabi

Thaer Zuabi received his B.F.A in Cinema and TV from Tel-Aviv University, then worked in the film industry for 4 years in various roles; Production assistant, 1st Assistant Director, and a director of two shorts, which were premiered in The Jerusalem International Film Festival and Festivals around the world. He finished his MA degree in Feature Film last year in Goldsmiths, University of London, Media and Communication Department, where he worked on a full feature film script titled ‘Gifted’.

He is now a PhD student in Goldsmiths, working on his practice based PhD titled ‘Variable identity and Hyper-narrative’, and trying at the same time to produce his first Feature. He presented his last video work in Site^Insight exhibition in May 2006, Venice, Italy.
